Our LONGGGG Weekend

Well did we ever have a go go go kind of weekend!

It started on Saturday with a trip to Barriere to pick up our new purebred Lab puppy Hutch. The breeder was naming the pups after TV shows and since Seinfeld was taken we chose Starsky & Hutch.

Well just before Chase we ran into a convoy of 25 motorhomes(they were all numbered)....eeeeck!

Then on Sunday went to Kamloops for Peytons 2nd Birthday.

He just keeps going..

I guess this is just the beginning! He can go from his tummy to the sitting position now and he is far from sneaky, sounding like a little gremlin scurry around on the floor grunting and giggling. you can't help but laugh at him. The whole crawling thing has completly gone over his head....he does the inch worm! I can definatley WAIT for him to walk......eeeck look out. Oh yah I forgot to mention he pulled out the carbon monoxide detector.....time for some carson proofing.

**please ignore the dirty food stained face...he loves his breakfast way to much! we really do wash his face :) **

{Mom & Dad}

Some photos I took of mom and dad a couple years ago.

{Frolicing Filly}

Some photos I took of Aunty Terri's horse "Filly". Shes sure an old gal (I meant the horse!) you sure wouldn't know it by looking at these pictures.

First Halloween and other Carson Pages

This photo was taken a few days after Carson and I were discharged from the hospital.
Carsons 1st Halloween. I did this for the "same product, different design" Design Team challenge at Scrapbooking Swede.

scrap machine...at least I was last night!

Boy did I scrap my butt off last night...I couldn't help it, those creative juices were flowing! :)

Here are the pages I did:

Since Peyton's big "2" birthday is coming up I did a couple pages of her. I have a couple more I'm still working on and should have them up soon.

A visit and dinner at Arnie & Paulettes in February. We got to see Darcy and the gang as well.

{ Sayonara Serena :( }

Well we gave Serena back to the SPCA today. I was upset but knew it was the right thing to do. She has way too many issues , a little more than we can handle at the moment. For instance she jumped our 4ft tall fence, chewed Carson's toys and Brodie's eyeglasses licks everyone and everything, jumps up on you etc..... you get the picture, and Rob if you’re reading this it pales in comparison to what you are going through with your new puppy. Here is an excerpt from an email Rob sent the other day detailing what kind of havoc his new pup has caused,

"He is very handsome and playful, but he’s driving us up the wall. Do I mean the wall that he is trying to chew through – right in our main room? No, not that one. So far he’s chewed up sandals, slippers, runners, remote controls ($65.00 !), DVD’s, carpet, recliner, hats, socks, pill bottles, computer cables, keyboards, printer cables, purses, towels, books (rare ones from Eleanor’s father), bills,etc… - so he must be pretty lovable, because I haven’t had his teeth removed – yet! I was thinking of having his teeth removed and getting a set of dentures that we could give him at dinnertime, and then take them away again – no, I’m just kidding – that would cost a fortune!"

Maybe Serena wasn't as bad as that puppy but she could have been as she was starting to take over the house, sneaking up on the couch when we weren’t looking etc.....

I hope that she finds a loving and caring home that is willing to take the time and work with her one on one.

~Altered Canvas~

This is my FIRST altered canvas. The photos were taken when we went to longbeach for our honeymoon. The little bottle contains actual sand from longbeach. I collected a film case full of it before we left...not to mention the drift wood and shells! :)

~a little of this and that~

They have come in droves! Spiders that is, we seem to be inendated with the pesky buggers....all over the front livingroom windows and the front door.

Her FIRST victim......the sneaky pooch popped into Carson's room and snatched this bear . The poor thing didn't stand a chance!

{He can clap the Hat and a RAK!}

He clapped on May 13th! and hasn't stopped.

Yes this is Serena, she is wearing Carson's hat! She is such a silly dog. I was trying to do some research on her "breeds" when I came across this a dog .I think it looks like her twin...kinda. Only Serena has big floppy ears

I received an awesome RAK today from one of the members of Shauna's Shabby Shoppe ....... THANK YOU Jen! I think Carson LOVED it too!

Carson all decked out in his hat after he got back from getting the mail . Boy oh boy it was hot today! Time to get that air conditioner set up!

Serena ~ name to stay the same

Meet our new doggie Serena. She is only just over a year old and is a sweet girl.

She is Hound mix...which means she doesn't bark like a regular dog. She only does her hound "bark" when she sees a cat or another dog...it's really funny!

**About that Dog**

Yep, she comes home tomorrow. WE will be picking her up from the SPCA sometime in the early afternoon. We are excited to be getting her, but if something happens and she is not working out we DO have the option of returning her for a refund.

{Scrap Page}
She Scrapbooks
This is the first page in my She is me Album. I'll be doing 1 page a month just about ME! The inspiration for this came from Deene's challenge on Scrapbooking Swede.
Journaling reads:She wants to ensure future generations get a glimpse of what her life was like. Books Showcasing her craft of photography and journaling reflect and document funny, happy and sad moments." Her message is that life has been good and it will continue to be."She scrapbooks for the future.

{On another note}
I HAVE not mailed our Mothers Day cards!!!! Okay slap my hand. This being sick thing messes with your mind. My friend Lisa posted a mothers day blurb..so in honor of hers I'll post mine. Thanks Lisa!

FOR ALL MOMS ~ I didn't write this, it came via email a while back.

This is for all the mothers who walk around the house all night with their babies when they keep crying and won't stop. This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse. For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T. This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see. And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes. This is for all the mothers who froze their buns off on metal bleachers at football or soccer games Friday night instead of watching from cars, so that when their kids asked, "Did you see me?" they could say, "Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world," and mean it. This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair when they stomp their feet like a tired 2-year old who wants ice cream before dinner. This is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and explained all about making babies. And for all the mothers who wanted to but just couldn't. For all the mothers who read "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year. And then read it again. "Just one more time." This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead. This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot. This is for all mothers whose heads turn automatically when a little voice calls "Mom?" in a crowd, even though they know their own off spring are at home. This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with stomach aches, assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away. This is for mothers whose children have gone astray,who can't find the words to reach them. For all the mothers who bite their lips sometimes until they bleed - when their 14 year olds dye their hair green.

What makes a good Mother anyway? Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips? The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time? Or is it heart? Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time? The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby? The need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying? For all the mothers of the victims of all these school shootings, and the mothers of those who did the shooting. For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely. This is for mothers who put pinwheels and teddy bears on their children's graves. This is for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation. And mature mothers learning to let go. For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers. Single mothers and married mothers. Mothers with money, mothers without. This is for you all. So hang in there

{in other news}
No news from the SPCA regarding the dog....So I think they will be getting a phone call from me. I'm taking this as a sign...maybe we aren't met to have a 4 legged furry being around yet.

Together

This is another page for Carsons album ....just finished it.

{Miracle}
Well little man, just thought I’d let you know that I was not allowed to hold you after you were brought into this world. That’s right I couldn’t touch, see or hold you. I was very emotional and I think my nurse could tell that I was in obvious distress. So being so sweet and kind she went down to the NICU and took a photo of you with her camera phone. You were laying there in the bed so tiny… my “little peanut” all 4 oz’s of you wrapped up in an oversized sleeper attached to machines to monitor your progress. I was truly blessed to have such a caring individual to look after me that day and give me a sneak peak as to what you looked like.

My heart grew with the anticipation of our first meeting, 24 hours went buy and I was off “4 wheeling” it with your dad. I new my patience would persevere; great things come to those who wait and I waited 8 months to see you.

The Tap incident

This is a layout I did for my DT work with Scrapbooking Swede. (I have to figure out the links thing! If anyone can help me please do!)

{The Tap}
When you purchase your first home you’re eager to get out and start doing things around your “new” house. Well on this particular sunny afternoon we had just returned from town with a shovel, hose, and some fertilizer for the front cedars ( the guy who owned the house before us never kept care of them) So I dug every one of them out…yes ALL 10, My first yard job ever in our new home. When they were all fed and happy it was time to water them. So we hooked them up our fancy new hose to the outside new tap. Sure that went fine without a hitch, no problem. But when it came time to turn the water of it wouldn’t!

It just kept on coming out, not fast mind you but fast enough to cause a big problem. So Brodie shut off the water to the entire house and went into town (first trip) to buy a new tap. Well when he got home out came the tools (what little we have – we are new at this you know) the hammer, and a utility knife. Except the utility knife was MIA so he reached for whatever sharp serrated tool he could find - that would be my bread knife!

So he proceeded to put a hole in the wall where the tap needed to go. After many curse words and hair pulling later he managed to get the 1X1 square cut from the wall. Would you believe the tap was incorrectly installed…at this point no! Well it was and so that was call for another trip (2nd trip) into town to return the newly purchased tap and rent the proper tool to detach the old tap from the water line.

Well it was quite the afternoon, and Brodie still had to go to work at 3:30pm!
I was put on drip patrol for the remainder of the evening. He did a great job and to this day the tap turns on and off just like it should have done.

This incident goes to show us as new home owners that the “landlord” is no longer a phone call away.

About a dog

Meet Serene(name to be changed), our soon to be adopted doggie. Our fingers are crossed in hopes my call to the shelter tomorrow will be a happy one and we will have the green light to pick her up on Saturday. She is such a great girl, so friendly and quiet.

Birthday, Dogs and Garage Sales

It was Leah’s Birthday on the 5th so I baked a cake. I was pretty proud of myself seeing that I’m not that skilled in that craft. It was a pink cherry chip cake (you know the kind that’s really easy to make from the box) with pink whip cream icing and pretty pastel sprinkles. It was delicious! We didn’t have enough candles (24) because the ol’ girl is 27 this year ;)

I’ve been bugging Brodie for a garden hoe this past week. So we headed out to check out some garage/yard sales. We went for what seemed like FOREVER and still nothing…I can’t believe some of the JUNK people try to sell! We were also on the look out for a wheel barrel and didn’t find that either (mind you I think we were a little late. I spied one jammed in the trunk of a car, barley hanging on!) Well we did end up finding a hoe; I guess this story has a happy ending.

This jam packed day ended taking us to the SPCA garage sale and of course the trip wouldn’t be complete without a trip into the dog kennel. We’ve have been talking about getting a dog for a very long time….even before Carson. Well I think we may have found her, they said she was a hound mix? I don’t see it, she is as cute as can be…very quiet and gentle and to top it off she is not that tall. A good size dog for what we want. I have the adoption request filled out and we go over to the kennels tomorrow…..fingers crossed, I hope all goes well.

Have you ever heard about those parents who have to drive their kids around to get them to sleep? Well we are officially one of “those” parents. Yep, sweet Carson was a little cranky on Saturday and wouldn’t stop crying and go to sleep! So we packed him up, strapped him in and began to drive! We weren’t sure where at first but decided Sicamous would do. So an hour later we drove to Sicamous and back….Carson NOT asleep, but at least the screaming stopped…all this took place at 9:30pm!

Nothing is more fun than going out and pickn’ rocks! That’s exactly what Brodie and I did this weekend (and Carson of course) we drove to the other side of the lake and picked as many rocks as we could. You see we are making a fire pit in the backyard… around these parts a fire pit is allowed! We were going to go with some preformed concrete bricks but chose not to at the last minute. Getting out together, picking up a Timmies coffee on the road, and picking rocks were so much better than being stuck inside a hardware store.

We let Carson feed himself today……this can’t be good.

He also likes the vacuum…. my little helper.

What a Day

What a fun and exciting day for Carson. We went to the community centre for some fun with the kids and meet up with my scrappn' friend Lisa and her son. He was such a good little guy laughing, smiling, what a treat! This photo was actually taken last week...didn't snap any today :(

Well he did it......Carson can finally hold his own bottle! It's not that we don't mind doing it for him but I think he has a bit of an independant streak and really didn't want us to do it for him. No complaints here!
Whats new on the scrapbooking front....Well I'm still going full speed as usual and try to get as much done during the week while Brodie's working. Seeing that I scrap at a snails pace I don't complete many pages in one week.

Here is one I completed last night:

The Journaling Reads.....

This was our wedding song. There’s just something about that comforting at home feel.

That’s what I feel when I’m around you always. A place where I can be myself and no one judges, a place where I can love and be loved the place where I put my feet up and enjoy the view.
”There's something in your voice makes my heart beat fast Hope this feeling lasts the rest of my life…..
Feels like home to me, feels like home to me Feels like I'm all the way back where I come from….
If you knew how much this moment means to me And how long I've waited….If you knew how happy you are making me I never thought that I'd love anyone so much.”
Feels like home to me, feels like home to me Feels like I'm all the way back where I come from….

If you don't know our wedding song was " Feels Like Home" by Chantal Kreviasuk.
